Problems and solution of global warming

Global warming is a big problem. Now days as a wheel of technology is running, fossil fuels and bad waste disposal have been identified as major causes of the global warming problem. I will outline the problems involved with these two issues, and provide a solution that is happening in our own country.

Fossil fuels are a major cause of global warming. The world’s reliance on fossil fuels, coal, fuel oil and natural gas is to blame for global warming. The effects of higher carbon dioxide would not go away in our lifetime. (O'Driscoll and Vergano)

Another major problem is waste disposal. Disposing of waste in a landfill involves burying the waste, which usually result in gases such as methane and carbon dioxide. This gas can create odor problems, kill surface vegetation, and is a greenhouse gas. Incineration is another form of waste disposal. Incineration is a controversial method of waste disposal.

Here in the UAE, we are trying to give the solution by building Masdar, the world's first zero-carbon, zero-waste city, powered almost entirely by the sun. Masdar will be residential and business but will use 75% less electricity and 60% less water. Cars are not allowed, People will take light rail or electric transportation pods. Solar thermal farms, will supply a quarter of the city's power. The city's wastewater will irrigate urban farms that grow biofuels. (Ioffe)

Everybody in the world sees the UAE as only interested in selling fuel and making money. We have been told we have one of the world’s largest carbon footprints. However when we look at the Masdar project we can see that this city will try to provide different solutions to the burning of fossil fuels and waste disposal, which are the main causes of global warming.

cool cities

Cities like Masdar city which cost approximately $22 billion (Masdar, 2014: The Greenest City in the World) are not the solution to global worming because these cities are impractical for different reasons. In this essay I will prove my opinion with some reasons which support it.

First of all the most obvious of human growth .Nowadays the number of people is increasing and that is why not everyone can live in these types of cities. This chart shows the world population(International Data Base).

The second point is that the huge cost to build this type of cities .As a result of this not everyone can afford to live there. Moreover there are a lot of poor countries across the world so having these types of cities is impossible.

Further point is that lifestyle. It’s not easy to live in these types of cities. For example, some people like to eat their eating habits. Moreover they like to use their own 4x4 cars but in cool cities they will use trains.

Finally, I beleive that living in cool city is not the solution for the global worming problem, because these cities are impractical and we should find other ways to solve this problem.
